The governmental and regulatory practice group of Graubard Miller counsels clients in the intricacies of dealing with governments and their agencies. To assist clients in closely scrutinizing their interests in New York City, we maintain a direct computer link to the New York City Department of Finance real property assessment records. The link enables us to monitor activity which the City initiates in assessing client-owned realty. The legislative process in New York City has become increasingly important in resolving issues of concern to certain clients. We advise on the processes of the New York City Council. Our lawyers attend public hearings and, where appropriate, confer with staff representatives who assist administrative and legislative leaders, as well as with local officials. We serve as liaison with representatives of New York City and the City Council on matters pertaining to legislation and project approval. Our attorneys represent clients before City agencies on issues relating to land use, zoning, licenses, permits and variances, environmental impact statements, tax certiorari and other matters. We actively are involved in cable, water, sewer, regulatory and rate matters, public service commission administrative matters, condemnation proceedings, and a variety of other regulatory processes. We also represent clients in agency actions and proceedings which relate to liquor licensing. A number of municipalities have engaged Graubard Miller to represent the interests of the government. We appear before a large number of New York State agencies, including the Public Service Commission, the Office of Secretary of State, the Comptroller, the State Liquor Authority, Environmental Conservation, Labor, Motor Vehicle Department, Taxation and Finance, and the Office of Real Property Services. Our attorneys assist in preparing environmental impact statements and provide counsel on environmental issues, including compliance with Federal, state, and municipal laws, rules and regulations. |
